Jisoo, a global ambassador for Dior, graced the event with her signature K-pop charm, pairing elegance with youthful energy. Alexandra Daddario, known for her standout roles in The White Lotus and Mayfair Witches, added a dose of Hollywood glamour to the front row. Anya Taylor-Joy, fresh from her wedding in Dior, stunned in a sultry black bodysuit with leather accents and intricate beaded fringes, perfectly aligning with the collection’s theme of transformation and contrast.
The collection itself was a masterclass in blending Dior’s storied past with an innovative approach to design. Maria Grazia Chiuri paid homage to the house’s heritage while reinterpreting key archival elements, notably the Trapèze line created by Yves Saint Laurent in 1958. Crinolines were reimagined as modern, wearable sculptures, with embroidered branches and organic motifs lending the collection a sense of constant evolution.
Key looks included a reimagined version of the Cigale silhouette, originally introduced in the Autumn-Winter 1952-1953 haute couture collection. Featuring moiré fabrics paired with fitted tailcoats and pleated skirts, the design offered a fresh take on traditional proportions. Draped bustiers, floral-embroidered blouses, and capes with delicate organza feathers further highlighted Chiuri’s innovative craftsmanship. A black coat, understated yet commanding, demonstrated the collection’s ability to marry simplicity with sophistication, while the finale gown – adorned with three-dimensional silver embroidery – captured the poetic and surreal essence of the collection.
Adding another layer of artistry, the collection was accompanied by an immersive installation by Mumbai-born artist Rithika Merchant. Her series of nine paintings, translated into large-scale textile panels by the artisans of the Chanakya ateliers and the Chanakya School of Craft, complemented the collection’s themes of transformation and memory. Drawing on her ancestral narratives from Kerala and inspired by botanical forms, Merchant’s work celebrated the strength and resilience of womanhood across generations.
